Obituary
MONNA JANE HEUER, 69, of Wilmington, N.C., formerly of Fort Wayne, Waukesha Wis. and Davidson-ville, Md., passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at home where she was in hospice care and lovingly surrounded by close family members. Monna was a graduate of South Side High School, Fort Wayne, and attended University of Francis and University of Wisconsin. She had an active career serving as an executive assistant to the CEOs of Konterra, MD, the New America Foundation, and two trade associations in In Washington, D.C. She was also an executive assistant for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Annapolis, Md. Monna was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hyattsville, Md. and an officer in local civic associations. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ed; sons, Rob and Chris; daughter-in-law, Debra; granddaughters, Kristen and Jennifer; sister, Kay; brother-in-law, Fred; nephew, Scott; nieces, Amy and Emily; and grandnieces Megan and Brooke. All of the Fort Wayne, Indiana area. At Monna's request, there will be a private gathering for family and friends to share memories at a later date. Monna left the following instructions for all who knew her: "Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you. If you can only remember me with tears, then please do not remember me at all." At her request, Monna's ashes will be scattered at sea. Those wishing to donate to a memorial in her name are urged to do so through their own chosen church or charity, or a local hospice organization serving their community.

I remember Mona fondly. She was quiet and sweet and we spoke on occasion. We were not close friends, but I regret her passing non the less.
