In Memory
Mary Ann Waldrop
Phil Waldrop notified us that his cousin Mary Ann Waldrop Felger has passed away. She, unfortunately, had developed early onset of Alzheimer's several years ago.
Phil shared with us that MaryAnn's daughter Erin, a surgeon at Johns Hopkins, had moved her from Dataw Island, SC several years ago and placed her mother at a care facility in Bowie, Maryland so as to have her near.
According to Phil, Erin wrote the following: “Mother passed away in her sleep Thursday morning January 6 2022. We will send out details for her service which we will hold in the Spring. Her last wishes were to be cremated and placed beside Grandad and her mom in Fort Wayne and for half of her ashes to be spread near the beaches of South Carolina where she loved to support the annual Loggerhead turtle spawns. If you would like to express anything in memoriam I have set up a website where all friends and family can share their feelings."
Phil adds, “Follow this link and feel free to share photos, stories, or just leave a note. (You may find more details there soon, but other than a few photos, there as yet is no content). A lot of our alumni may remember her father, Robert Waldrop, who as a police officer used to visit the grade schools to talk about safety, and who sometimes served in a security capacity at SSHS home sporting events.”

I would encourage you to read Mary Ann's profile which she updated in 2009 to learn about her life.

Thank you, Phil, for catching me up on Maryann; and please accept and pass on my sympathies, especially to Erin. I was impressed with her dad at Harrison Hill and remember him vividly. Maryann and I had lots of good chats when she lived at Clear Lake and would stop on her bike ride. Always Sunny, I looked forward to seeing her. Besides her dad, we had Northwestern in common and our love of Nature. Bless you, Erin....Julie Waterfield

So sorry about my fellow classmate Mary Ann. She was always such a kind person!
