Dave and I were good friends at South Side. I remember spending a week or so with his family at a lake cottage they had taken in northern Indiana one summer. He moved away and i didn't see him much after hight school but did get a chance to meet his bride shortly after he married and was in town visiting his family. We of course told every embarassing story we could conjur up doing our bets to shame him in front of his wife, but I don't think it worked very well because actually, Dave was always a gentleman and not a poorly behaved as the rest of us.

Rest in Peace Dave

Dave and I grew up in the same neighborhood, and were elementary school friends. I remember going to his house one day and noticing that he had a little sign on his bedroom door that said "Hoffie's Pad." Those were the days when a "pad" was a trendy descriptor. I thought it was a little out of character for such a quiet and unassuming person, but it was clear that he saw himself as more than that. Looking back, he was a kind and gentle person, and I am sorry he died at such a young age.
