In Memory

Philip L. Baker

Philip L. Baker

Those of you who are members of the official SSHS Alumni Association ( and hopefully, that is the majority of you ) will be in receipt of the latest Fall 2017 Issue of the official SSHS AA publication, "The Archer Arrow", which is a benefit of membership.

In the " In Memoriam" section, it was listed that Phil Baker passed away on July 19, 2017.

Those of you who attended our 50th Class Reunion may remember that Phil and his wife attended.  He was in a wheel chair as  he was paralyzed in a scuba diving accident  while in the navy in Guantanamo.  If you click on Phil's Profile, you will see a more recent photo of him, and a picture of him and his wife that was taken at that reunion.  If you read his Profile you will know why he is dressed in cowboy clothes.

What follows is the only information regarding an Obituary that we were able to find.

I was personally saddened by this news, as i spent a great deal of time on the phone with Phil and his wife making arrangements for them to attend the Reuinion, as well as, sharing time with them while they were in town.  He was a remarkable man who adapted to his situation with true grace.
