Patricia A. Cooney (Vought)

Mary Ann Roach Wert was my best friend at South Side. I first met her at Abbett Elementary School.

This was her obituary:

Mary Ann Wert, 34, died Sunday in Community Hospital, Indianapolis. She was a native of Fort Wayne.

and had lived in Indianapolis 10 years.

A member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Homemakers Club, she was graduated from South

Side High School.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; a daughter, Marla Kristeen; a son, James Bryan; a brother,

Steven J. Roach, and a sister, Susan I. Portilla, all of Indianapolis.

Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials are to American Cancer Society.

She was born on March 13, 1947 and died on November 29,1981.

I really miss her.

Mary Ann lived nearby where I grew up - and on my newspaper route.  Always friendly, always right on.  I had seen about her death when it happened, and I am sorry for another victim of cancer....

I always liked Mary Ann. She was easy to talk with and she was very genuine. I'm so sorry that she passed at such a young age.

Mary Ann Roach was in my class at Merle J. Abbett, also.  She was a very kind person.  I remember that she was a very bright student and was always happy!
